food.

alright so what is there to really talk about but the food here? let's get to it.

this is what's called 'crespelle alla fiorentina.' it's crepes, stuffed with ricotta and spinach, topped with bechemel and tomato sauce. it's amazing. i got this at a place by my house, osteria il buongustai, which was affectionately call 'ladies' since it is run by a bunch of, well, ladies. i also learned how to make it in my cooking class this past week. it's definitely more trouble than it's worth, seeing as i can get it for 6 euro a plate around the corner, but at least i'll be able to give it an attempt back home someday.

this one isn't particularly notable because of what it is, but rather how much it is. maybe you can't tell so much from the picture, but i ordered a doppio (double) portion for me and a friend from my coffee lady, and she handed me this monstrosity. it was enough spaghetti for a family of 5 and weighed about 4 pounds.

these are fried zucchini flowers, stuffed with basil and pecorino cheese, made by yours truly. another new recipe learned in my cooking class. i'm not sure how easy it is to find zucchini flowers elsewhere in the world but at the market here you can buy 20 for about 1.50 euro when they're in season. now i will unfortunately have to try frying every kind of vegetable i can get my hands on.
